Francis Seriau, founder, Tech Music Schools
Drummer and music training legend Francis Seriau, founder of Tech Music Schools, has partnered with Sovereign Capital to take his music business to a new level.
Originally from Besancon, eastern France, Francis Seriau moved to the UK in 1979 and started playing the London music circuit. His first big gig, as a semi-pro drummer, was supporting the Ginger Baker band.
Over the past 30 years, Seriau has built a highly acclaimed music training business that was recently acquired by Sovereign Capital. Originally, Drumtech (now Tech Music Schools) taught drumming to aspiring musicians. Now, with its sub-brands VocalTech, KeyboardTech etc, it offers the whole range of training.
Seriau himself has become a bit of a legend in music circles, having nurtured some of Britain's top talent. Patrons of Tech Music Schools include Rick Wakeman and Peter Gabriel. The likes of Radiohead and The Charlatans have passed through the school's training. The full history of Tech Music Schools makes fascinating reading. A passion for music underpins everything we do, Seriau says.
He's on Facebook and LinkedIn, thought isn't a particularly regular user.
For Sovereign, this is the latest in a series of investments in higher education.
