We want to hear from the most disruptive, innovative, creative entrepreneurs in the UK. Are you one of them? Then let's celebrate you!
Unruly Media's mission is to deliver the most amazing social video campaigns on the planet. But advertising is an overrun industry, full of creative masterminds fighting for their consumers' attention. To break through, Unruly had to do something nobody had ever done before.
So Unruly innovated. They started distributing social video campaigns across YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, premium publisher sites, influential blogs and mobile applications, using their MEME (Media Engagement and Measurement Engine) platform to identify the brand and content proponents that start conversations.
Now you may know them from their T-Mobile Royal Wedding advert, which has had over 25m YouTube views and is the seventh most shared video of all time.
Last year Unruly Media's CEO Scott Button won the Digital Innovator of the Year award at the Growing Business Awards 2011. This year we're looking for his successor.
But innovation is not just the heart of the digital world. It defines success across all sectors, from the retailer extending their high street stores to a digital, social marketplace to the manufacturer re-developing their production processes.
That's why this year we've opened nominations for the Innovator of the Year award.
The bar is raised high: we want to find the most innovative ideas, the most disruptive concepts, the most thought-through business plans. We want to hear all about the risks you faced, the challenges you overcame, the details of your inspirations (and inevitably your desperations). We want to celebrate your success and your innovative spirit.
"Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower," Steve Jobs famously said. What's certain is that innovation is the essence of development, the beating heart of every new business. If you were able to keep your innovative spirit alive throughout the ups and downs of entrepreneurship, you have achieved something exceptional.
Time to tell us your stories.
Nominations are now open for the 2012 Growing Business Awards, in association with Lloyds Bank. We're looking for entries from "future champion" businesses and individuals across ten categories. Created by Real Business and the CBI, the Growing Business Awards are the most established recognition of UK entrepreneurial achievement.
The awards are also supported by Land Rover, the Financial Mail, Spring Law, Cass Business School, Your Business Your Future, Business Voice, Professional Engineering, and bdaily. As well as huge prestige and coverage, a group of successful candidates will also be invited to an exclusive "high-performance day" at McLaren Racing, as well as joining a delegation at the 2012 CBI Annual Conference. Nominations close on September 21.
