Sage UK has made its accounting software for SMEs available on the Microsoft Office Apps Store.

Sage UK announced that its accounting software for SMEs, Sage One Accounts will be the first of its kind available through the newly launched Microsoft Office Apps Store.

The Microsoft Office Apps Store opened in August 2012, as portal that enables avid Office and SharePoint users to search for, discover and install apps. Users need a Microsoft account and the preview version of Office, SharePoint or Exchange to use the Store.

The Sage One Accounts App for Outlook enables users to simultaneously read emails from customers and suppliers. Business owners can securely view crucial information about those contacts in the business accounts software, such as outstanding invoices, without leaving Microsoft Outlook.

Sage One is Sage’s family of software as a service tools for small to mid-sized business owners. It is said to offer an intuitive, secure and low cost way to manage finances and payroll and collaborate with accountants in real-time.

Nick Goode, head of Sage One, explained in a press release: “Microsoft Outlook remains the email application of choice for the majority of small businesses around the world, so to be one of the first to launch on the Microsoft Office Apps store is a real coup, particularly when our app can make such a difference to small business owners. We have created a holistic view that connects Outlook directly with Sage One to deliver relevant financial client information straight to your fingertips – saving time and increasing efficiency.”

The app allegedly comes with no upfront costs, no installation charges, no maintenance or support fees and free, automatic upgrades. With prices from £5 a month upwards, it's decent value for business owners on a budget.

Further, the Sage One Accounts App for Outlook is available to accountants using the Sage One Accountants Edition, where accountants can pull through client information such as financial summary and payroll summary.
