One of Britain's leading experts in turbochargers has a dream of transforming vehicle fuel efficiency.

Bryn Richards is a classic engineer-entrepreneur. The founder and CEO of Aeristech recently told The Engineer: "The motor industry is now seeking to bring the highest-efficiency, lowest-cost turbo systems into its supply chain and it is forecast that by 2014 around 75 per cent of all European light vehicles will be boosted by turbo technology. We are delighted to have secured the investment we need to progress the development of our unique HTT system and our objective is to capture a 10 per cent share of this market over the longer term."

Richards started the business in 2006. As a result of his recent fund-raising, he's joined on the board by Andrew Lester,  former MD of Jaguar and Alfa Romeo UK, and Andy Tempest, former FD of Lotus Engineering and CEO of Prodrive, who has been involved with the company for some time. Based in Birmingham, Richards studied at the Institute of Science and Technology at Manchester University. Richards' career has been mainly spent in the field of power station efficiency. He won a Shell Springboard award for his work on turbochargers.  bryn.richards@aeristech.co.uk
