Raising finance: two UK software businesses - Acturis and Semafone - have recently raised growth finance.
Fraud prevention software for the call centre sector; back-end systems for insurance underwriters. It's hardly riveting stuff, but Semafone and Acturis are two UK businesses developing valuable new proprietary software.
Semafone CEO Tim Critchley raised £1.9m from Octopus Ventures; Acturis, founded by former McKinsey partners Theo Duchen and David McDonald raised money through pukka US "growth equity" investors Summit Partners.
One interesting note: Duchen and McDonald operate, unusually, as joint-CEOs.
