While pessimistic about the UK's outlook in 2012, FDs have strikingly different views about their own company prospects, initial results from Real Business's annual Satisfaction Survey show.
Forty per cent of UK senior financial decision makers believe their companies' prospects will improve in 2012. This compares to just seven per cent who feel the same way about the UK economy; and a staggering five per cent who are optimistic about the world economy.
These are the initial results from Britain's largest annual poll of finance directors and senior financial decision-makers, the Satisfaction Survey, which gathered the opinions of more than 1,000 MDs and FDs last year.
The results of the Satisfaction Survey determine the winners of the annual FDs' Excellence Awards, in association with ICAEW and supported by the CBI.
While 40 per cent of senior financial decision-makers are optimistic about their own businesses' prospects in 2012, 37 per cent are neutral and 21 per cent are pessimistic about the year ahead. Pessimism is felt particularly strongly for the world economy (70 per cent) and for the UK as a whole (66 per cent of respondents).
The results announced today represent the views of the first 100 senior financial decision-makers who have taken part in our Satisfaction Survey so far. We'll be releasing further insights from the Satisfaction Survey on a regular basis in the coming weeks.
The Satisfaction Survey is one of Britain's biggest surveys of the opinions of senior financial decision-makers. This unique research analyses how MDs and FDs feel about their their service providers, business and the wider economy.
The Satisfaction Survey is open until March 2, 2012 so be sure to take part now and share your views.
