Chartway does it all, from planning to development to construction itself, the firm delivers services across Kent and has completed projects in towns including Herne Bay, Maidstone, Chatham and Folkestone.

The firm offers a dual approach to clients and serves housing associations as well as private developers, while it has an ongoing relationship with Westerhill Homes. It’s not just residential properties Chartway creates either, having completed work for medical, education and recreational sectors.

It has a target of delivering 250 units a year, which has enabled the CAGR to hit 58.61, while the latest revenue reached £21.85 million.

A number of projects are ongoing at present, including a £3.7 million contract for the production of 37 units in two blocks of new build flats for MHS Homes. Elsewhere, a £4.7 million deal that started in March 2014 to create 35 flat-based units at a riverside location is set to finish in December 2015.

Managing director Ian Savage is considered a “valuable backbone to the company” due to a mixture of construction, contracts and practical experience. While he sits as the group MD, he still oversees the construction components of projects and is in charge of the firm’s overall health and safety procedures. He’s supported by directors Philip Cunningham and Stuart Mitchell.

“Having trained and worked with Allen & Overy in the City as a corporate lawyer for several years, Philip moved to Switzerland to become vice president of Swisscom AG with responsibility for international investments in telecoms businesses in Europe, India and the Far East,” the company revealed.

“He has served on the boards of several companies worldwide most notably in Delhi and Kuala Lumpur, the latter for a listed company. He has wide experience of joint ventures, acquisitions, disposals, equity in debt offerings and corporate finance. Philip’s commercial experience and background as well as his investment into the company complements the teams knowledge and experience of the construction industry.”

Discussing Mitchell’s role, the firm added: “Stuart has had over 20 years experience in both local government and at board level of construction companies. As a qualified Civil Engineer, this experience provides a valuable backing to our design and build projects where a very large emphasis is on getting the design of a project right in the first instance to allow for efficiencies in the construction process to be maximised.

“Having been at Board level for several years for the likes of Ward Homes, Stuart is able to give a strong insight into the regional housebuilding market and again allow us to maximise the planning potential of our projects. Within Chartway Group, Stuart covers the Land Procurement, Technical and Commercial function in addition to the day to day running of the business in conjunction with his fellow directors.”
