Notonthehighstreet.com is a marketplace for Britain’s small, independent businesses. The company started four years ago with 95 small business partners. Today, it supports 1,600 retailers, selling 35,000 products between them. The company is set to hit the £14m-turnover mark this year.

The funding from Index Ventures (backers of ASOS) and Greylock Partners (backers of Facebook and LinkedIn) will be used to expand the team and the underlying technology.

Laurel Bowden, partner at Greylock Partners, describes Notonthehighstreet.com as “one of the most innovative and original e-commerce businesses to come out of the UK with the future capability to support thousands of small businesses in Britain and abroad.”

Notonthehighstreet co-founder Holly Tucker won last year's “Entrepreneurial Woman of the Future” award. This year's event will be held at London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square on 9 November. Closing date for entries is 3 September.
