About to set off on a five-hour car journey with the kids and need to keep them entertained? Check out www.voyager-systems.co.uk. This Surrey-based wholesaler and online retailer designs and manufactures portable entertainment systems, designed especially for cars.
Graham Lambert came up with the idea in 1999, after he managed to link up a video player to a small screen – allowing him to watch films in the car – and realised he’d hit on a niche market. Without a penny of outside equity investment, Lambert and business partner Robert Grant have grown the company at an annual rate of 158 per cent over the past four years, to £6.9m.
