LinkedIn’s top UK companies list reveals 20 most desirable employers

LinkedIn has released its 2017 top UK companies list, which reveals the British businesses that are most desirable as employers.

The research comes after the business network hit half a billion users in April. To determine the top UK companies, LinkedIn explained it analysed the actions made by its 23m UK members, which highlighted the firms that Brits want to work at.

With its reputation enduring the changing retail sector, John Lewis continued to hold the top spot and held off competition from ASOS in second and Topshop owner Arcadia Group in third.

In addition to a passion for retail firms, tech was popular as Google and Facebook also made the top ten, while media companies BBC and Sky were also on the overall ranking of top UK companies.

There’s also an appetite for working in professional services too, with PWC UK, Deloitte and KPMG all on the top UK companies rundown.

“The concept of a ‘talent brand’ is increasingly preoccupying recruiters, and our research shows it’s the area talent leaders would most like to invest in this year, a sentiment which is being reflected in my conversations with UK businesses across most sectors,” says Jon Addison, head of Talent Solutions at LinkedIn UK.

“However, it’s not enough simply to build recognition for your business – you have to address the particular questions and concerns of potential employees, and you have to do so whilst establishing the sense of purpose and meaning that makes working for your organisation worthwhile.

“Which makes it no surprise that our Top Companies list this year is dominated by brands who clearly communicate their values and purpose.”
