Roll on Judgment Day
Still under orders to rest and relax but am running the business remotely, swopping reports and instructions with the various line managers. This is proving fascinating as it gives me a chance to study much more closely how they respond to set targets and goals, and measure their performance in a very accurate way.
In the meantime, my wonderful HR lady continues to digest mountains of company records and talk to all the staff about what's good/bad about the business and how it might be possible to turn things around. I have every faith in her judgement and know she is aware of the trust I put in her.
Yes, it's a big investment – but it's undoubtedly worth it. We are lucky enough to be a stable enough financial position to take the time to review things. And let's remember that my own long-term financial future will be more affected than anyone else’s by the decisions that we finally come to.
Roll on her initial report, which – touch wood – will be with me tomorrow.
