The Easter rush
Hesitate to mention "green shoots of recovery" but, for two solid weeks, the sales office has been seriously busy with quotes, enquiries and orders flooding in.
Considering we are short staffed, this really is a nice tribute to our products and our marketing, proving yet again that we are in a lucky position to have captured a niche market and that our product virtually sells itself.
Easter's usually a busy time for us. In the various markets we serve through our interior-designer customers, it is the commercial side that has shown the biggest growth, which would indicate that builders are, as per normal tradition, gearing up to sell their houses from Easter.
Interestingly, one of my friends – who has at long last exchanged on a property – has found that the various companies she was using to do the house up are also suddenly inundated with work and no longer available for the week ahead. Far too soon to tell if it will be sustained, especially in election year, but it is great to feel things picking up.
Continuing to work with my wonderful HR lady to identify and eliminate the problems we have been having and looking at how the company could be better structured for a future of growth. While we are tied up with that, department heads have not only been achieving targets but also been progressing with health and safety risk assessments and checking our suppliers in terms of price and service to make sure we're getting the very best of both.
