Litten wins top job at building society
by Catherine Woods - Friday, 18th July 2008 -
Scarborough Building Society finance director Robin Litten has been appointed chief executive-elect of the group.
In a statement announcing Litten’s promotion, Scarborough chairman, William Worsley says the bank considered “both internal and external candidates” and that the appointment was made against” significant competition from the financial services sector generally”. He adds: “The board is confident that, by following an independent process, it has appointed the best person possible to lead the business in the future.”
Litten has been FD of Scarborough since 2002. Previously, he was FD of Barclays Private Banking. He describes the appointment as a “tremendous opportunity to lead a business with the strength and diversity of the Scarborough Group”.
Speaking to Real FD in 2007, Litten said the bank has been transformed during the past couple of years. He noted that profits and assets have experienced double-digit increases.
Litten, who was honoured last year at the Yorkshire FD of the Year awards, replaces John Carrier who is retiring at the end of the year.
