Heavy defeat for Labour in Europe
The Labour party has been plunged deeper into crisis after winning just 15 per cent of the vote in the European elections, with the BNP claiming its first two seats in Europe.
The Conservatives secured 27 per cent of the vote, followed by Ukip on 18 per cent.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown is meeting MPs tonight; the Times reports disgruntled party faithfuls may try to oust him once again.
Wendy White, the founder of DIY website-building software company Moonfruit, says she isn't surprised by the results.
“I think people already had low expectations following the local elections and preceding expenses decline,” she says.
