Brothers Damien and Patrick Courtney are cleaning up in their sector. They’ve seen turnover at their Birmingham-based waste-disposal and waste-management company grow tenfold in the past three years, from £421,600 in 2005 to £5.2m in 2008. Established in 1989, the company offers tailor-made packages to public and private sector clients, handling all waste removal, recycling and site cleanliness on projects from start to finish, all on a fixed budget. Its £4m state-of-the-art waste-segregation unit can recycle up to 88 per cent of construction and demolition waste and its plant can process 600-800 tonnes of waste daily, recycling the vast majority of it.
