Employers need to start thinking about impact of shared parental leave on business

On 5 April 2015 new shared parental leave rules comes into force, which will affect paternity leave. After the introduction of the new legal provisions, eligible (“father”) employees can still take two weeks paternity leave but additional paternity leave will be abolished, in favour of the coalition government’s preferred system of shared parental leave, which assumes that not all mothers will want to take their full maternity leave allowance.
