This a company with its finger on the pulse of the 21st century. And, according to Rob Small, MD of sporting equipment and gaming firm Miniclip, there’s never been a better time to be in business: “2008 was a good year for us but we are expecting to see accelerated growth throughout 2009 as online games continue to become a fun and cost-effective alternative to expensive console games and other leisure activities during an economic downturn.” Miniclip offers adults and children alike a bewildering choice of online games and also manufactures and sells motor sports, racing games and puzzles. Growth has been dramatic, with sales increasing from £2.7m in 2005 to £19.2m in 2008. Profit has grown even faster with pre-tax profits of £903,000 leaping to £5.8m in the same period.
