Paul Gains and Andy Adewale founded Mint Financial Services in 2002. The Chesterfield-based firm provides back-office, technical support and training to its network of independent financial and mortgage advisers. The company now boasts 265 members across the UK and is on track to meet a target of 400 in the next five years. Growth has been fuelled by an incentive scheme whereby IFAs are offered share options in the company. As a result, sales have exploded from £1.2m in 2004 to £13.1m in 2007. Margins are fair at three per cent, with £364,000 on the bottom line. Chief executive Gains has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry. He says it’s taken, “a lot of hard work and vision to take the company from nothing to an independent IFA network that is envied by many”. And, with a compound growth rate of 119 per cent year on year, envy is right.www.mintzone.com
