29: Movewithus Conveyancing

Set up by five entrepreneurs in 1997, Movewithus Conveyancing started out as a network for estate agents that wanted to market their properties nationally. The company “got traction” in 2002 when it had 500 estate agents registered as members of the company’s network. Today, they have 12,000.

“Estate agents aren’t regulated, so we’re there to ensure the standards of work meet the needs of a corporate client,” explains CEO Sean King. Movewithus has since repeated this success with its network of 75 law firms selling conveyancing services. “This new part of the business handled 40,000 transactions last year, amounting to 40 per cent of our total revenue,” says King. However, its core area of business is a part-exchange service that collaborates with developers to help people swap their home for a newly built house.

Movewithus is now the largest independent outsourced property conveyancing company in the UK. “The key to our success is that we haven’t just had one business model,” reflects King. The company has logged an annual growth rate of 109 per cent over the past four years, with latest turnover at £5.1m.www.movewithus.co.uk
