32: SANDERSON ASSET MANAGEMENT

Oxford graduate Tim Sanderson formed Sanderson Asset Management (SAM) in October 2000, having honed his asset management skills working at Hill Samuel Investment Advisers and setting up Delaware International Advisers in 1990. Twenty-three per cent of SAM, an independent investment firm offering equity services principally to American investors, is owned by Sanderson and various family trusts, while hedge fund Silchester International Investors owns 49.9 per cent. The rest of the company is owned by current and former employees. Based in the heart of Mayfair, in Savile Row, with an office in New York, SAM caps its assets at a maximum of $5bn in net client contributions to ensure its investments are never compromised. Sales have risen steadily from £4.2m in 2005 to £22m in 2008, earning a pre-tax profit of £8.3m.www.sandersonam.com
