Graham Hawkey-Smith and his partner set up Smarter Communications in 2003 on the premise that advertising agencies work better with creative and media under one roof. "Over the past 20 years, creative and media have gone in separate directions. We’ve challenged the big agency norm by bringing them back to work together on cracking a brief from day one."
Hawkey-Smith believes this means they can create solutions faster. Their fast growth would certainly suggest so: Smarter Communications has grown 101 per cent over the past four years and today the company’s turnover has hit £11.8m.
Smarter Communications joined the IPA, (the industry body for advertising) in 2004: “We wanted to send out a signal that our professional standards are as high as the big boy agencies,” says Hawkey-Smith.www.smartercomms.com
