Stockbroker Oriel Securities is a partnership in the truest sense of the word. CEO Simon Bragg explains: “The important thing for us is to have a lot of smart people owning a little bit of the company. We put caps on what people can own. It’s worked pretty well.” The description “pretty well” is an understatement when it comes to Oriel’s results. Since 2004, the firm has grown 88 per cent to reach turnover of £18.8m. Bragg is expecting another record year and hopes to grow Oriel’s workforce from 80 employees to 100. In keeping with the theme of partnership, every staff member has equity in Oriel. Bragg says: “The girls on the front desk will have shares and options, and each year we give out free shares. It’s important for us that everyone is an owner and we communicate with everyone as if they’re an owner. We try to be as open as we can.”www.orielsecurities.com
