Graham Gough and business partner Martin Harris set up recruitment group Maxxima in 2001. It has benefited from its focus on supplying specialist medical staff, and has impressive year-on-year growth at 81 per cent over the past for years. Most recent turnover is £10.5m, but Gough is expecting sales of £22m within the next year.

He puts the company’s success down to its transparent service, competent staff and that there are only two people making strategic decisions¬ – that and the fact there is always a demand for medical treatment and for the people who administer it.

“When we set up the business, we wanted to get as close as possible to recession-proof,” says Gough. “With the global economy looking shaky, we’re glad we did.”www.maxxima-group.co.uk
