Sales at financial training business 7City leapt from £2m to £11m last year. Co-founder Jonathan Shaw puts its continued success (7City charted at 58 in the Hot 100 last year) down to its focus on the customer. “Our product is intangible, so while we put a lot of effort into the training programmes we deliver, our main focus is our clients,” he says.
“We also avoid distractions. Lots of medium-sized companies attempt to branch out into new areas of business; we’re concentrating on our existing business and that has brought us success right up to the first quarter of 2008. There are choppy waters ahead, especially because we serve organisations in the financial sector, so we’re concentrating on the quality of our service.”
