2. Epicurious

Never use a national disaster to market your product. On the day of the Boston Marathon bombing, cooking site Epicurious decided to try and cheer up the nation through their Twitter account by suggesting various recipes.

This included tweets such as:

  • “In honor of Boston and New England, may we suggest: whole-grain cranberry scones!”; and
  • “Boston, our hearts are with you. Here’s a bowl of breakfast energy we could all use to start today”
If that wasn’t bad enough, however, they proceeded to copy and paste the same apology message to everyone that had complained!
