With a turnover of £23.1m and pre-tax profits of £1.8m, Victoria Group isn’t simply staying afloat in this recession; it’s sailing forward. An independent port operator in the UK, Victoria Group also offers services including stevedoring, warehousing and open storage facilities, packing, handling and conveyancing. The Group operates five important ports: Victoria Wharf (Plymouth); the company’s HQ, Sharpness Dock (Gloucestershire); Mersey Wharf (Bromborough); Port of Seaham (County Durham); and Port of Boston (Lincolnshire). Each year they act as custodians of nearly three million tonnes of cargo on behalf of their international customer base. Eighty-eight per cent of this firm is owned by Mark Gatehouse.
