Bolland, who founded Alchemy alongside the recently departed Jon Moulton in 1997, left the firm under mysterious circumstances in November 2007. An official explanation for Bolland’s departure has never been given, but it has been rumoured that he fell out with Moulton over the lack of a coherent succession plan at the firm.
