Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) has purchased Live Nation’s UK Theatres (excluding their one-third share of The Dominion Theatre) for £90m. The acquisition has made ATG the largest theatre operator in the UK by a country mile. Rosemary Squire co-founded ATG with Howard Panter in 1992. Since inception, the group has acquired a lucrative portfolio of theatres, both in the West End and further afield. Following the acquisition, ATG adds two of London’s most successful shows to its spread; The Lion King (at The Lyceum) and Wicked (at the Apollo Victoria). ATG now has have a total of 39 venues in the West End – more than any other theatre operator and manages more than 11,000 seats. The value of the combined business now stands at around £150m.
