At the beginning of every year the nation seems to collectively go on a job hunt. You know it’s become the latest hype when an awareness day gets attributed to it – national job hunt day falls on 7 January if you were wondering. And in case you intend to join the search, here’s a list of the best jobs in the UK. In an article for Real Business, Shuan Thomson, CEO at Sandler Training in the UK, suggested “freezing weather, broken resolutions and the Christmas weight that just won’t shift has made January the most depressing month of the year. It’s no wonder job searches and application peak as Brits try to find a way of staying positive.” But if you’re looking for a combination of great job satisfaction and pay, then Glassdoor’s list of best jobs in the UK offers some considerations. Firstly, the best jobs in the UK are what the company deem to be highly-skilled and are within sectors that tend to stay ahead of the growing trend toward workplace automation. “Finance and technology are well represented on this list, both of which the UK is renowned for,” Andrew Chamberlain, Glassdoor’s chief economist, explained. The good news? “In particular for technology jobs, companies across all industries are hiring workers for these much-needed positions. Any organisation today with a mobile app, web presence or digitised data are struggling to fill positions like data scientists, solutions architect and mobile developers.” Using job satisfaction rankings and wages, the company has published a 2017 list of the best jobs in the UK, all of which have numerous job openings.
