Birmingham FC boss Karren Brady is to replace Margaret Mountford on the next series of The Apprentice.

Brady is set to quit her role at the club following the takeover by Carson Yeung. The "First Lady of Football" has been MD of Birmingham FC since the age of 23. Now 40, she joins Nick Hewer as Lord Sugar’s adviser on the hit BBC programme The Apprentice.

Brady has been mooted for the role for some weeks, seeing off competition from bra entrepreneur Michelle Mone and Alan Sugar‘s fellow politico Martha Lane Fox, co-founder of Lastminute.com.

Tune in to The Apprentice in May 2010 to see Brady in action.
