Visual tech business Virtual Walkthrough has been appointed by luxury property developer Life Residential to develop digital tours for a minimum of 180 homes over the next year.
The announcement comes as London startups are rising in number, with the real estate sector among the markets to experience growth – increasing with new businesses by 71 per cent year-on-year.
Online estate agency SellMyHome.co.uk is among the firms changing the way the market is viewed. In March it teamed with visual tech firm Virtual Walkthrough to deliver a Facebook-based open house, which resulted in savings of over £50,000 for the seller.
Virtual Walkthrough’s services have now been harnessed by Life Residential to produce 360º digital tours of its high-end, luxury properties across London. The programme is an ongoing partnership and at least 180 homes will be captured in the first year, with more high resolution online views set to follow.
“I believe using the innovative technology that Virtual Walkthrough offers will enhance the already high service our clients have grown to expect. “Our properties will benefit from maximum exposure to the market, both at home and overseas,” said Scott Ayliffe, director of residential ales at Life Residential.
“Life Residential are keen to embrace the advantages of this new technology as, these days, it is very limiting to rely solely on the traditional estate agency tools of still photography, floorplans and occasional video.”

While Life is starting in London, it also has other properties across the UK, as well as Hong Kong, Singapore and South Africa. The firm claims the deal came about in order to make it “pain-free” for clients whether they’re buying, selling, letting or managing property.
The company currently has more than 220 properties for sale, and an additional 320 up for rent, with prices ranging from £150,000 to more than £3.5m.
James Morris-Manuel, CCO at Virtual Walkthrough, said: “We are working across many areas of the property industry, from shopping centres to offices and apartments, using our cutting edge product to revolutionise the relationship between technology and the property world.
“We’re extremely pleased to be working with Life Residential on their London business. It’s another exciting opportunity for us to demonstrate what we can do in this area, and our high quality captures show off their high end apartments extremely well.”
