The Business Growth Fund has opened a new office in Bristol and appointed Paul Oldham as its regional director for the South West and South Wales.
The Bristol office is the fourth that the Business Growth Fund has opened since its launch in May. The Business Growth Fund also has offices in Birmingham, London and Edinburgh, and employs a 34-strong team. The Business Growth Fund, which is financed by the UK’s clearing banks, has £2.5bn at its disposal. It aims to fill the “equity gap” by investing between £2m and £10m for minority stakes in small and medium-sized companies with turnover of between £10m and £100m.
Paul Oldham
Oldham was previously the head of LDC’s Bristol office, a South West corporate finance partner at Grant Thornton and a director of the Cardiff and Bristol offices of 3i, where he spent 13 years. During his career, he has been involved in more than 40 equity investments in small and medium-sized businesses. In his role with the Business Growth Fund, Oldham will be responsible for developing relationships with businesses located in the South West of England and South Wales, and for executing fund investments in the region. He will also sit on portfolio company boards and be a member of the Business Growth Fund’s national investment committee.
