Having originally opened for business in Bristol, Mubaloo’s expansion to London saw Sarah Weller promoted from marketing manager to lead the effort in the UK capital as the managing director. Indeed, Weller was recognised for her work in the Young Achiever category at the First Women Awards.
Since becoming MD, Weller has driven the company forward in partnership with founder and CEO Mark Mason, who remained stationed at the Bristol office. However, the tech entrepreneur has now stood down from his leadership role to become chairman, which makes room for Gemma Coles – previously director of mobile strategy – to replace him and serve as a joint-MD with Weller.
His departure comes amid an increasing number of commitments outside of the business. These include becoming non-exec director for Business West, governor of University West of England, executive chairman of ForrestBrown and chairman of The South West Leadership Group for Prince’s Trust.
“I felt it was time to take a step back from Mubaloo. Gemma and Sarah are the driving force behind Mubaloo’s recent growth, I know that they will continue to drive it forward into the future,” said Mason.

Together, the two female leaders will drive expansion this year and have also been appointed on the firm’s board of directors. They will divide their duties as Weller will focus on commercial growth while Coles will oversee the team’s quality control.
Claiming “2015 is set to be Mubaloo’s most successful year yet,” the company puts it down to increasing products and services alongside a spike in demand from clients. Bang & Olufsen and London’s Air Ambulance are among some of the firms using Mubaloo, and that type of disruption is what secured its place in Real Business’ Everline Future 50.
“Mark is still very much involved with the overall strategy and company direction, but will be able to focus more on his other interests and investments. I am delighted to take on this new role at this exciting time for the business,” Coles said.
“Over the past year, we have focused on growing the Mubaloo team to meet demand from the companies we work with. We have continued to grow our partner programme to help drive enterprise mobility into more industries and utilise the right technology.
“This is allowing us to help companies in new and innovative ways, by tightly aligning mobile with business strategy. We are seeing this in the scope of projects we are working on and the increased need for businesses to seek efficiency improvements through mobilising processes.”
