London-based Decibel Music Systems uses technology that was originally developed for criminal intelligence-gathering to create music metadata platforms for media businesses.
Decibel Music Systems has a database of 12 million tracks featuring 300,000 artists and 100,000 venues. In the last six months, the company was won $500,000 of new business from record labels. The company has a presence in the US and the new funding will allow Decibel Music Systems to service clients globally. The data is already multi-lingual and the company hopes to land its first Korean and Japanese clients this year. “Our mission as a business is straightforward. We want to power every new and existing digital music service with high-quality, accurate metadata,” said Decibel Music Systems founder and president Evan Stein.
