Botterill is the entrepreneur behind brands including thebestof.co.uk, Raring2go and My Mags. He started running his own businesses in 2003, having worked alongside mobile phone legend John Caudwell and millionaire Hamish Ogston.
Now Botterill has set himself the challenge of publishing his new book, The Botty Rules, on Twitter. Tweeting once every 20 minutes, round the clock, it will take just over 45 days to publish the entire text on Twitter. “Social media is an important part of our business and I wanted to set the challenge to do something that has not been done before,” he explains. “People post regular updates and thoughts on Twitter, but no-one has Tweeted an entire book before. I hope the project will prove inspirational as the boundaries continue to be pushed on what can be achieved through Twitter and other social media channels.” You can follow Botterill’s Twitterthon at @bottyrulesIt’s an interesting marketing stunt – but we defy anyone to actually read the book from start to finish via Twitter. And we suspect Botterill will be suffering from repetitive stress injury by the end of next month. The book, which is “properly” published on February 1, is also available the traditional way – via Amazon and bookstores.
