It’s very easy to say that you are too busy to attend events, but we all seem to forget the benefit of stepping out of the office for face to face contact. After all we need to learn to grow.

Every day we are bombarded with invitations for business events, networking and meet-up opportunities – but how can we sift through these and how should know which ones to attend?

As a growing business, taking time out of the office can seem like a no go, with time pressures and deadlines, time out can be costly. It’s all too easy to get stuck in office and work mode, however it is important to think about how refreshing a day out at a business event can be.

Do you have a specific issue you’d like to explore, discuss or share with others? Perhaps you are looking for a new piece of HR or Finance software for your business for example. There are a wealth of free events that can allow for you to have a day of taking stock and learning. It is a great feeling to come back to your business refreshed and with new ideas to share.

Suppliers are a good place to start and they often run “user” forums and design the days to really add some value to your job. A well designed event will have a mixture of learning and doing, presentations and networking, it is amazing what you can fit into a day.
