After running a stream of businesses through university, they were on the lookout for a revolutionary idea.Here?s their story: ?We stumbled across it. We saw that students wanted to go to Ibiza, but it was too expensive for them. We used our contacts (and a lot of persistence and phone calls) to put together Ibiza holiday packages, including accommodation and four superclubs, for ?149.99, under the brand ?Awaken Ibiza?. ?After selling 300 places in six weeks, we saw the real market opportunity. While the internet and low cost airlines have revolutionised the travel market, making it cheaper for customers to book everything individually, young people want to go on exciting holidays – and these require more than a flight and accommodation.? The founders believe has been no innovation in the travel sector since Club 18-30 was invented in 1970. ?We have reinvented this concept for the current era of young people – festival goers, who want to see huge DJs and bands, but still want to have a great time with their mates in the sun.? The aim is to create the ultimate holidays for this age group. Festival-style holidays (see Magaluf Takeover, Ayia Napa Takeover, Malia Takeover, Zante Takeover) have taken the market by storm. Not only are they exciting holidays, but they are cheaper than buying everything individually – and around half the price of Thomas Cook. In year one the firm took 1,000 passengers; year two 5,000; and this year they are anticipating 10,000. In two years, Mainstage is on the way to being the one-stop travel provider for the under-28’s. The future lies in growth of existing brands, developing new brands, and developing new technology to capture the huge youth travel sector. ?We are taking the industry forward: we are reinventing package holidays, and fully capturing the youth travel market.?
