Held on Wednesday 17 May at the Royal College of Surgeons, the FDs’ Excellence Awards 2017 has taken place for the 13th year, hosted by comedian and writer Adam Kay during a three-course meal. The latest outing of the FDs’ Excellence Awards sees the event continue the mission to recognise the finance directors and institutions supporting growth of British businesses. The ceremony was held as part of The FD Surgery, an event dedicated to diagnosing and curing the ailments that impact the finance sector, with support from Concur, Corporate Traveller, Director Bank, IOD, Kronos, Lloyds Bank, Menzies, Qubic Tax, Wells Fargo and World First. Competition among FDs’ Excellence Awards nominees was of an incredibly high standard, according to the panel of judges that comprised FD veterans and industry experts, while the winners of the Service Provider and Lender categories were decided by the ratings given in the FDs’ Satisfaction Survey. Brian McArthur-Muscroft of Paysafe Group was awarded the Inspirational FD of the Year title, with one judge declaring: “Brian is a truly inspiring CFO, having delivered massively valuable projects, had a demonstrable impact on investor perception, and lifting the company’s people with him.” Elsewhere, Microsoft, Sage, Scottish Widows and KPMG were among those victorious on the day.
