Telling the truth about SME life today

Really furious. Just had a call from the bloke supposedly starting in sales admin role on Monday week informing me that he has found himself another job with more money in central Cambridge. Second time running this has happened!

Yet again, we had gone for an applicant slightly out of the area but this time had taken time and trouble to discuss the whole situation with him, in particular that should he look for a job in Cambridge proper it would indeed bring him more money and he assured me that he wanted to work for us irrespectively.   Kept on saying on the phone that “this call was so hard to do”. Did not feel obliged to make it easier for him. Ironically, both applicants were graduates and, by chance, the first time I have ever offered jobs to new (ish) graduates. Could be a coincidence but am now left wondering if indeed they deserve their somewhat bad name in the employment market place as am getting the impression that some are nothing better than spoilt and arrogant timewasters.
