Many FDs already act as COO while others are promoted to the role. Just last week, Keith Allen became COO at Mecom while John Cresswell relinquished his FD duties to become a full-time COO at ITV.
Cobra FD Dynshaw Italia certainly sees a link. “What I find is that the finance director role is more moving to a COO sort of role," he says. "I see more overlap in that rather than with a CEO role.”
