Future 50 2016 launch signals latest hunt for the UK’s best innovators

The unveiling of next year’s crop of exciting companies will take place following our maiden Real Business Disrupts conference an all-new event that will bring together innovators past and present to mark five years of the Future 50.

This year’s batch of Future 50 talent was revealed back in March and, as the world of business continues to transform before our very eyes, Real Business and Everline are on the search to discover talented young companies from across Britain for the 2016 edition.

The 2015 class saw CommuterClub secure the Disruptor of the Year award for its efforts to make commuting a cheaper expense for Brits to manage, while PayasUgym won the Household Name of the Future award as its mission to offer more flexibility to the health-conscious consumer was recognised.

And with household names in mind, JustPark, TransferWise and Funding Circle, which have had a bumper 2015, are just a few of the firms to have been named on previous Future 50 line-ups on the rise to the top.

JustPark walked away successful from Pitch to Rich 2015 with billionaire investor Richard Branson in July just four months after the car parking service sealed a record 3.7m Crowdcube investment. Elsewhere, fintech business TransferWise raised $58m in January, while P2P business lender Funding Circle built on a $65m round in 2014 with a $150m raise.

So has your business got what it takes to be crowned in the Future 50 2016″ Next year’s champions will mark the fifth year of the campaign and we’ve no doubt they will build on the 832m that alumni firms have raised since inclusion and take the figure into 1bn territory.

Other quick-fire Future 50 stats:

  • 14 the average number of people working at Future 50 2015 firms
  • 55 per cent of the Future 50 2015 companies believe access to funding is the biggest growth challenge
  • 56 the average number of jobs 2015 Future 50 firms expect to create in the next three years
  • 75 per cent of this year’s companies would consider funding from venture capital firms

Given the milestone year, the event will be a little different to the usual proceedings too, arriving in the form of Real Business Disrupts.

With a new location at urban venue Bankside Vaults, Disrupts will kick off at lunchtime on Thursday 3 March and bring together all of the Future 50 winners past, present and new.

The day will launch with a street food fiesta, while networking, one-to-one consultations, and business growth debates will also be on the menu. Topics are set to include brand development, international strategy, funding and team building.

And when night falls, the event will transform into the well-known Everline Future 50 party, which will come complete with comedy, music, drinks and, of course, more opportunities to mingle with like-minded innovators.
