In his address to the Growing Business Awards, the Director General of the CBI gave a very entertaining opening speech, slagging off Alistair Darling’s 2.5 percentage point cut to VAT, as well as trying to defend his own honour. You see, Lambert’s got a rather nasty cut on his nose which David Cameron, at this week’s CBI annual conference, joked was given to him by one Gordon Brown. Lambert repeated what has already been peddled in the press: that he simply fell down some stairs. “That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it,” he said…

Awards aren’t too far away. And there’s a little bit of scandal – one of the winners hasn’t showed up! Slackers…
