The details
Ray Winstone’s disembodied head is helping Bet365 to maintain it’s stellar growth curve. His adverts for the betting firm founded in a portakabin in Stoke-on-Trent in 2000 by Denise Coates are proving a hit with punters.
It’s Denise, though, who is the real star. She inherited her knowledge of betting from her father Peter Coates, who ran a chain of betting shops. But her online concept is proving to be far more lucrative. In the past four years turnover has grown from £159.7m to £501m.
Denise, who runs the business with her brother John, tells us: ?Over 70 per cent of our revenue is from customers outside the UK, so they are hugely important. We have customers in over 200 Countries and are in the process of gaining licences in Spain, Denmark and Australia.
She warns: “It will be impossible to maintain the growth rates we have seen. However, we continue to grow well this year and are committed to investing in the business long term. She owns 50.1 per cent of the business.
