It’s a return visit to the Hot 100 for Maxxima, a recruitment company specialising in hard-to-find candidates in specialised areas of the National Health Service.
Growth in the business since it last featured in 2008 has been forced up, at least in part, by budget cuts in the NHS and the increased need to get the right job candidates through the door.
“We haven’t changed what we do a lot, in fact we’re successful because we stick to our specialisms,” says Graham Gough, a co-founder of the business. “We aim to get highly-qualified candidates and we check CVs thoroughly – the worst thing we could do would be to place someone who isn’t who they say they are.”
The business’ turnover has tripled in four years, taking it from £11m to more than £33m in its last accounting year. Gough says a stable base of talented and loyal staff is partly responsible for this momentum, as is Maxxima’s “honest approach” to business development.
