Sun Mark founder Dr Rami Ranger believes strategic partnerships are the basis of his export organisation’s substantial growth in recent years. The business, which turns over £109m and has nearly doubled sales in three years, works with British brands to market and distribute them in far-flung markets.
“We don’t do ‘deals’,” says Dr Ranger. “We have lasting relationships with premium brands that are based on mutual respect and desire to achieve goals. We hold exhibitions around the world and sell into supermarkets at the upper end of the scale.”
Sun Mark has won a Queen’s Awards for export three years running between 2009 and 2011 and Ranger himself has an MBE for his charitable work. It exports to more than 100 countries and plans to continue to expand operations in the near term.
“We have big expansion plans – we’re currently looking to the US and Latin America – and we expect to increase turnover again this year. We are constantly checking the competition.”
