Through its sub-brand Prax Petroleum, State Oil is one of the largest petrol and diesel blenders and distributors in the country. The Surrey firm then sells on the fuel to companies such as Stagecoach, National Express and Royal Mail. The Stagecoach contract alone is worth £30m a year over three years. State Oil also dabbles in the forecourt management business.
Run by husband and wife team Sanjeev and Arani Soosaipillai, State has benefitted from rising fuel prices, and its expertise in blending biofuels into the fossil fuel mix. Sales are £419.7m. The Soosaipillais own 100 per cent of the firm.
