This is Samitel’s third appearance in the Hot 100, proving that growth is both continued and sustainable. A telecoms company, Samitel specialises in selling wholesale “communications solutions”such as voice and data services to other global carriers and operators.
Founding director Ahmed Farah set the company up in 2000, when the IT and telco sectors were booming. “But before we had finished the infrastructure, the bubble had burst,” he says.
It did however show him how to survive in turbulent times, and the value of providing good service. “Trying to sell recklessly and reduce quality is not worth it. Stick with good service even if it means your price is a bit higher,” he advises.
Growthhas been organic, with a steady push into new geographic regions.Based in London, Samitel is a global player in the telecommunicationsindustry with presence in Western Europe, Africa, the Middle East andAsia, expanding into Eastern Europe and South America. Turnover sitsat £32m, up from the previous year’s £25.4m.
