The details

Argus Media is an energy and commodity price reporting agency founded in 1970. Headquartered in London, it has over 350 staff, located across the globe from Argentina to Washington. 

Argus has been on an acquisition spree of late, having bought FMB Consultants, which provides price reporting and market intelligence to the fertilizer and chemical industries last year. In February 2012, it added Fundalytics, which compiles, cleans and publishes data for European natural gas markets. 

The company is run by chairman and CEO Adrian Binks, who joined Argus in 1984 as editor of its weekly newsletter. 

Turnover last year was £56.1m, an increase of over £14m on the previous year, while profitability was a very impressive £19.8m.
