This is a second Hot 100 appearance for specialist financial IT consultancy Excelian. Founded in 2001, the company now has 250 staff working in 20 countries.
Its original focus was on the capital markets divisions of investment banks, but it has now expanded into technical and commodities consulting, grid and high performance computing, business consulting, environmental auditing and green IT. Almost 50 per cent of the company’s sales are generated overseas.
Founder and CEO Adrian Marshall puts success down to being “good at spotting opportunities and adopting emerging technologies…good at being in the right place at the right time… and going more than the extra mile to make sure projects are a success.”
Turnover and profit almost doubled last year, from £13.3m to £25.2m and £556k to £1.07m respectively.
