When someone is called out to read or maintain your utility meter, it might be by your power company, but it might equally be one of Bob Vernon’s team doing the leg-work.
As boss of Lowri Beck, Vernon is responsible for an army of meter readers, who gather reading for the gas and electricity supply companies, large and small. His team are also gas and electricity meter installation experts, installing new smart meters in the homes of many in line with the government’s commitment to Smart Meters in every home by 2019.
Vernon previously worked in the metering service department of Manweb, where he was involved in many customer service projects, before leaving in 1996 to set up Lowri Beck as an independent meter reading business . He performed an MBO of Lowri Beck in 1999, selling it again in 2000 before buying it back in 2002. Since then the company has grown and grown.
Lowri Beck has a turnover of £24.2m and profits of £3.3m.
